German Assistant Teacher (G1-G5)

General Description The position is a full-time assistant teaching role from 1 August 2024. The Primary School Grade 1-5 German Assistant Teacher works alongside and under the guidance of the German teaching team. Ideal candidates will speak German as their first language, and English as an additional language. Ideally, they will have experience working with children with a diverse range of abilities. Knowledge of understanding of child development is desirable. In addition, the German assistant teacher will participate in our after-school activities programme one day per week. The Primary School German Assistant Teacher is expected to: While working with ISZL children Ensure safety and well-being is central Cultivate a learning environment that values children as key drivers of their learning. Under the guidance of the German teacher, help to ensure that all children are appropriately supported in the classroom Under the guidance of the German teacher, use a variety of different teaching strategies and resources to cater for all children in the class Use a range of IT software confidently While working with ISZL Colleagues Maintain regular and appropriate contact with the German team to report observations on academic performance, social integration and general progress of the children Participate in German team meetings and occasionally schoolwide meetings as needed Engage with colleagues reflectively to deepen practice and learn from each other through regular meetings, and professional development opportunities Help with the preparation of resources for lessons. Contribute to the smooth running of the school by performing regular duties and being familiar with school policies Required and Preferred Qualifications Please refer to the mindset and profile from ISZL’s Candidate Profile Candidates with experience of working with children with recognised certificates are preferred Native German speaker and English to C1 level required Candidates must have a Swiss or EU passport/valid Swiss work permit (or be approved for a Swiss work visa) Compensation Compensation for this position will be commensurate with the responsibilities of the position and is very competitive globally.
