Please read on...</p><p><strong>Department Description:</strong><br />The position is situated within the Mechanistic &amp; Predictive Safety (MPS) team, which is part of the Preclinical Safety (PCS) department of Novartis Biomedical Research. MPS is instrumental to the PCS&rsquo;s mission of advancing safe drug development by providing mechanistic insights, evaluations of human relevance, and prediction of toxicity for various drug candidates.<br /><br /><strong>About the Role:</strong><br />Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:</p><ul><li>Apply multiplexed targeted metabolomics methods by liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS) to monitor metabolic pathways and biomarkers in biological samples from in vivo and in vitro experiments to support Novartis Biomedical Research projects. This may include the development and implementation of new LC-MS methods to quantify endogenous metabolites and drugs in biofluids, tissues and cell culture.</li><li>As an asset, perform biochemical and enzymatic assays to investigate mechanisms of toxicity as well as in vitro cell culture experiments with cell lines and complex cellular systems.</li><li>Manage study timelines and objectives, ensure accuracy and quality of generated data, document experiments and results in electronic systems and write reports.</li><li>Communicate study results and data interpretation to cross-functional teams.</li></ul><p><strong>Requirements:</strong></p><ul><li>BSc or MSc in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Biology, Analytical Chemistry or related field with 1-3 years of relevant work experience or completed apprenticeship as laboratory technician.</li><li>Strong hands-on experience in liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (e.g. with Agilent&trade; 1290UHPLC coupled to ABSciex QTRAP 6500&trade;) based quantification (MRM mode) of small endogenous metabolites, biomarkers and/or drugs in biological samples.</li><li>A solid knowledge of biochemistry, endogenous metabolic pathways, principles of toxicology, enzymatic assays and/or in vitro cell culture experience is highly valued.</li><li>Curious mindset, strong team player and excellent oral and written communication skills in English are essential.
