General Description In collaboration with their colleagues, teachers are responsible for planning and implementing an appropriate, school-aligned instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfil their academic and personal potential. In addition, all teachers participate in our student Personal Development Programme as a Homeroom Teacher or teacher of our MYP ‘Core’ Programme. We also expect all our staff to support an ethos of holistic learning through their support of an after school club, activity or sport and attend a residential PDW for at least 5 days in term time with students. Teachers are expected to meet (or commit to a growth plan to fulfil) the community expectations of ISZL’s educator competency domains. The HS Teacher of French is expected to: Teach primarily French Acquisition courses in the High School (from MYP, IBDP, AP and/or ISZL courses) and maintain curriculum documentation for these courses. Demonstrate a commitment to student centred and inquiry driven pedagogy. Involve students in planning for their own learning through appropriate and regular assessment; Plan and implement significant units of work within a framework of continuity and progression; Using a variety of different teaching strategies and resources to cater for a variety of different learning situations, abilities, and styles. Experience of UDL planning is an advantage but not essential. Offering regular, written, formative feedback on student progress. Demonstrate effective classroom management that shows an understanding of the academic, social and emotional dimensions of learning. Participating in Personal Development Week (experiential education trip) and our Personal Development Programme (i.e, teaching PSHE, Homeroom or Service as Action). Be able to offer a co-curricular activity or sports team coaching after school as part of our wider programme. Contribute to the smooth running of the school through performing regular duties and being familiar with school policies. L ead by example and partner with students in their engagement with the community, locally, nationally, and internationally. Working with ISZL Colleagues Collaborate with colleagues to ensure departmental and school-wide philosophical alignment. Collaborate within course teams to review, develop and refine the French language courses to maximise and enhance student learning. Participate in departmental, divisional and schoolwide meetings as appropriate. Engage with colleagues to deepen practice and learn from each other through regular meetings, lesson observations and professional development opportunities. Demonstrate a strong commitment to professional learning, reading and demonstrate professional curiosity. Working with ISZL Parents and External Community Engage parents as a true partner in the learning process. Keep parents informed about the learning of their children, and be proactive in communication with parents. Display student work to showcase their learning and accomplishments. Present occasionally at parent evenings.
